Small Towns and Villages -St. Remy de Provence
SMALL TOWNS AND VILLAGES
St. Remy de Provence, France
St.Remy de Provence is about 20 miles from Avignon. In the heart of Southeastern France it is one of my favorite places. Great for walking, relaxing or having lunch at one of the outdoor bistros, have a glass of wine and people watch.
This is the village where Van Gough painted Starry Night and his self-portrait while was confined to the aslyum during the final year of his life before he returned to Paris. St.Remy is also the birthplace of the French seer Nostradamus.
St.Remy is a picture perfect village, exactly what you would expect a French village to look like. Very charming, with lots of small family owned and operated restarurants and inns ( fabulous food ) and of course ..Mas de Cornud. Beautiful fountains, flowers, great weather, food and wine what more could you ask for?
Mas de Cornud, France
Mas de Cornud is a fun, friendly, well known cooking school that offers weekly as well as daily cooking classes. Wednesday is Marche Day, when you go to the local market to select the freshest herbs and produce for the class. You cook, you eat, drink wine, talk conversation – a fabulous day. It’s in the heart of the food and wine country – learn the spirit of Provence – definately a place to visit.
St. Remy is a short drive from Arles, Les Baux and Avignon by car, about 30 minutes by bus but there is no train station. Easy to find, lots of parking, everything is in walking distance. Quaint French village you will never want to leave.
